Today, FAD Magazine is one of the world's most respected sources of news and opinion about contemporary art. When Mark Westall and Dan Sumption founded the magazine in 2002, however, it was relatively unknown, experimental journal, available only as a print magazine.
Here at Peakrill Press we have unearthed a very small number of the first ever FAD Magazine, Issue Zero. Printed as an A1-sized poster, folded down into an A5 cardboard sleeve, this artifact is a piece of art history, with only a very limited number of copies in existence.
It features articles about Webby-winning online artists Entropy8Zuper, Crouching Bitches, London's independent art galleries, intelligent fabrics (20 years ahead of its time!), and the Offline Film Festival, as well as original artworks by Therese Stowell and Griffiths Cicmanec, and design hints, puzzles, and games, leading the reader to explore the magazine layout spatially as well as visually and intellectually.
NB there may be some slight colouration and bending to the sleeves of the magazine. It also contains a rude advert for Sonic Mook Experiment.
